Residential Water Damage Restoration
Residential restoration refers to the process of cleaning up, repairing, and restoring a home or residential property after it has been damaged by water. This can occur due to various factors, including floods, leaks, burst pipes, roof leaks, or appliance malfunctions.
The goal of residential water damage restoration is to return the affected home to its pre-damage condition, preventing further deterioration and mitigating health risks associated with water exposure (such as mold growth or structural weakening). The restoration process typically involves several key steps:
**Assessment and Inspection**
– A thorough inspection of the property is conducted to determine the extent of the damage. This includes identifying the source of the water, evaluating the areas affected, and assessing the level of contamination (e.g., clean water, gray water, or black water).
**Water Extraction**
– Water is quickly removed using specialized equipment such as pumps, wet vacuums, and industrial fans. The faster the water is removed, the less damage will occur, especially in cases of flooding.
**Drying and Dehumidification**
– After water extraction, high-powered dehumidifiers and air movers are used to dry out the remaining moisture in the affected materials (such as carpets, drywall, and wood). This step is essential to prevent mold growth and further structural damage.
**Cleaning and Sanitizing**
– After drying, all surfaces are cleaned and sanitized to prevent the growth of mold, bacteria, and other harmful pathogens. This may involve the use of antimicrobial solutions and air scrubbers to ensure the property is safe and healthy.
**Repairs and Restoration**
– Any damaged structures, like drywall, flooring, or insulation, are repaired or replaced. In some cases, furniture, electronics, or personal belongings may also need to be restored or replaced.
**Final Inspection**
– Once restoration work is complete, a final inspection is conducted to ensure the home is safe, dry, and fully restored.

SEE WHAT OUR CLIENTS HAVE TO SAY!

We had water damage from the toilet in the unit above us overflowing and leaking through our wall and into the floors. Our insurance company mishandled our claim from day one when our adjuster lied about what repairs the initial EMS vendor said needed to be done. That vendor backed out of the project when our adjuster tried to force him to do a limited scope of work from what he was recommending. At that point, I searched for another water mitigation company. I found Water Damage Zone on yelp and gave them a call. Elan Kissar came out to take a look at our home and put together a quote to submit to insurance. He has lots of experience with insurance companies, especially difficult ones like ours, and provided a lot of advice so that we could get a resolution with our insurance company. A few weeks later, Angela Valdez introduced herself and became the primary point person. Angela was great and also provided a lot of advice on how to deal with our insurance company who were being very difficult every step of the way. Our insurance company sent us a payment for the exact amount of the Water Damage Zone quote but told us 1/3 of it needed to be paid to the initial EMS vendor. We were never able to get the insurance company to budge on providing the full payment to each of these two vendors so we ultimately ended up hiring a different company for the water mitigation who agreed to do it for the remaining amount we had from the payment. Although we didn't use Water Damage Zone, I would highly recommend them as their expertise and willingness to help us was stellar. I can't say enough good things about Elan and Angela!
